Ziziphus is a spiny, deciduous, evergreen shrub that belongs to the Rhamnaceae family. Its leaves are alternate, flowers are small in size, and fruits are yellow-brown to red in colour. Ziziphus is known popularly to grow mostly in Asia, Europe, and Australia. It consists of flavonoids, terpenoids, fatty acids, alkaloids, volatile oils, and polysaccharides. It is also rich in Palmitic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, oleinic acid, and stearic acid. Ziziphus even contains a high amount of antioxidants.
